SUM 41

SUM 41 will be here on 4th March next year!!

Their latest album '13 Voices' has just been released:

"Multiplatinum rock outfit Sum 41 wrapped its final tour supporting 2011’s Screaming Bloody Murder in April 2013. It was one of the band’s longest and most attended touring cycles in its 20 year career, and they found themselves nominated for a Grammy for the first time ever. However things were not as perfect as they seemed, as vocalist, guitarist, and producer Deryck Whibley found himself on the brink of destruction.

“I can’t pin-point one exact moment that put me over the edge, it was more of an accumulation of many things when I slipped into a fog of partying and booze. I tried to detach myself from any and all responsibility whatsoever,” Whibley reflects. He spent the next year doing just that, and at the end found himself in a Los Angeles hospital fighting for his life.
Whibley spent most of April and May 2014 in and out of the ICU with his mother and fiancée by his side. When he was finally released as an outpatient he realized that his journey was just beginning, and it was then that he began to write while simultaneously going through intense physical therapy. “Being sober and out of the fog made me realize that the only things I really cared about were music, making a record, and getting better so I could get back on stage again.”
The music came together in tandem with Whibley’s health; he recalls: “Due to neuropathy, muscle atrophy and medication that caused permanent nerve damage in my legs and feet left me unable to walk and in excruciating pain for months. I had to learn how to do everything again—my motor skills, learning how to play guitar. It was really difficult, but at the same time if I didn’t have a record to make, I don’t think I would have recovered as quickly, or even at all.”
He continues, “Writing music gave me a purpose and I started from scratch with absolutely nothing to work with. I would put on movies with no sound and start writing guitar riffs and music to the images. Mostly movies from Tim Burton and Quentin Tarantino like Edward Scissorhands, Sweeny Todd, Kill Bill and Inglorious Bastards. The process led me in a direction that I had never gone in before which made me feel like I was writing a theatrical score called “hard-score punk”.
In addition to bassist Cone McCaslin and lead guitarist Tom Thacker, Sum 41 would also formally welcome Frank Zummo (Street Drum Corps, Krewella, Thenewno2, Dead By Sunrise) behind the kit.
Whibley produced and engineered 13 Voices entirely on his own in his house. Drums were set up in the living room, guitar amps in the bedrooms. The end result stands tall as SUM 41’s most intense, cathartic and all-around finest work in years.
With the upcoming release of this album we see SUM 41 as an impenetrable unit putting everything they’ve got out into 13 Voices. The result is a dynamic, impassioned collection of melodic, guitar wielding, rock songs. “I can’t say whether this is our best record or not, as I don’t know if it is,” states Whibley. “All I can say is I did the best I possibly could during the toughest period of my life”."

Rizzle Kicks - CANCELLED

Please note that our RIZZLE KICKS show has now been cancelled, refunds are available from your point of purchase - the guys have said they're putting together a video for more detailed information, but in the meantime here's their statement:

" Hey guys. I know it's s*** but Harley and I are cancelling the Rizzle kicks Nov/Dec tour. We're going to record a video to reaffirm why and emphasise our frustration but ultimately these are the reasons.
- We haven't released our album yet.
- We lost a few months of promo whilst Harley began to really struggle with GAD (Generalised Anxiety Disorder)
- The music game's changing big time and similarly we lost ground when stepping off the beaten track. (Even though no one really knows what that track is)

On a more positive note.
- We actually have made some really good music that we will be continuously drip feeding over the coming months and definitely giving you for free at points because it's ridiculous how long this has all dragged out.
- Harley is receiving help for his anxiety, and I'm documenting the process myself to raise awareness and hopefully help out others in a similar situation.
- When we rebook the tour it'll be off the back of a solid piece of work that we've already made instead of working towards.

We're seriously not happy that we're letting so many people down but we will only use November and December to ensure that 2017 flies as smoothly as possible - and that we're completely happy and that we feel balanced and that we're not coaxed into making anymore rash decisions.

You can help us take the reins back by supporting the music that we love to make when we release it.
You're all f****** great.
Sometimes things aren't great.
We're just going to try and ensure the music is.
You'd be right to feel as though I'm p***** off on another level too. If you bump into me on the train I'll give you the complete low down.

Peace x "

ASH Live Album!

Fan favourites Ash are here in December for the 20th Anniversary of their number one album 1977! And we've just had news about a live album:

**ASH ANNOUNCE LIVE ALBUM ‘Live On Mars: London Astoria 1997’**

To coincide with the 20th Anniversary of their number one debut 1977, Ash have announced the release of a live album called Live On Mars: London Astoria 1997.

Recorded over the band's record breaking five night run at the London Astoria from the 28th February to the 4th March. The album includes their hit singles ‘Girl From Mars’, ‘Goldfinger’ and ‘Kung Fu’, as well as a covers of Abba’s 'Does Your Mother Know’ and Dusty Springfield’s 'I Only Want To Be With You’. The set captures the raw energy of the band on their homecoming celebration to wrap up the epic year of touring of 1977, which was released the previous year.

The album will be released as a limited edition numbered and coloured vinyl, CD and download via the band’s website, the live shows and select retailers. The band said "The Ashtoria Five Night Stand was one of the most memorable run of shows for us. It really was the icing on the cake of a manic year since 1977 was released. We'd achieved a number one album followed by a world tour that came close to breaking us. These shows allowed us to look back and celebrate with everyone involved. And it was one hell of an aftershow!"

“These five nights at The Astoria, from February 28th to March 4th 1997, sound and feel like a party. An exuberant, irresistible celebration of a band who, transcending the faddishness of concurrent Britpop, succeeded on that rarest of commodities: raw talent.” - Ian Fortnam, Classic Rock

To commemorate the 20th Anniversary of 1977 the band announced a special run of shows where the album will be played in its entirety. Ash will kick-off the tour with an extensive US tour, followed by shows in the Ireland, mainland Europe and the UK.
