People may already be crying ‘emo is dead’ but the LAST thing it needs is to be injected with crappy gimmicks to bring it back to life. On one side we’ve got YellowYOUARENOTTHEFUCKINGLEVELLERScard with their fiddles, and on the other we’ve got My ChemicalYOURARENOTTHEFUCKINGMISFITSRomance with their ‘vampire chic’ crap. Enough vitriol for now, let’s try and take an objective look at the song. It’s your bog standard, MTV playlist fare, sounding like every other single emo track played to death by teenagers with bad hair. What makes it worse is that MCR can do better, with other tracks from their latest ‘Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge’ album being a little darker (trying to be Thursday, or Thrice, and failing), but this track is painfully bland. Even it’s title screams ‘I’m so damn emo, please hit me’. MCR need to stop putting more effort into their song titles than they do they songs, stop trying to be ‘dark’ and ‘noir’, get the hell off my stereo and back to flipping burgers. Spike
