Glyder - Glyder

Glyder are a hard rock band from County Wicklow. Sound wise its hard to avoid the obvious Irish comparison as the ghost of Phil Lynott resides in many off the riffs, think late Thin Lizzy, the John Sykes era and you will be getting a good idea of the sound.

The opener The Colour of Money is a barnstormer whilst Pretty Useless People has great harmony guitars. Described as retro organic hard rock, guitarists Bat Kinane and Pete Fisher and vocalist Tony Cullen (also the bassist) ensure that this doesn't become cartoon like, a fate that could easily befall them - especially if they were forced into spandex. One for the Lost starts with a solo bass riff and actually reminds me of Soundgarden in places, Stargazer follows it up and is destined to become part of an encore. Die or Dance, despite its cliched title, is another corker and Neutral Coloured life almost throws a spanner in the works, with an acoustic guitar intro before the harmonies start.

The album as a whole is amped up rock n' roll great stuff for a road trip on a summers day. If you like Lizzy, AC/DC then this is for you. If you don't shame on you and develop a broader taste in music.
