HIM – Digital Versatile Doom

Acronym aside, this is a DVD/CD package featuring HIM live at the Orpheum Theatre in LA. It is a greatest hits set. For those who don't know, HIM are a Finnish gothic rock band perhaps most famous for their cover of Wicked Game (track 5 on the DVD) and undeservedly so ,as they have a large number of great tracks of their own, Buried Alive By Love, (Rip Out) Wings of a Butterfly, The Funeral of Hearts, Your Sweet Six Six Six, Soul on Fire, all of which are featured here.

Having seen them live a few times, one thing that seems to get lost in the mix is Ville's vocals, something that's not a problem here. Good sound, pictures and mixing is all par for the course these days, the days of a VHS cam on a tripod are long gone (see some reissues for just how bad it was!)

Fans will love this pack and for a neutral it is a good intro to the band. Although it is not on par with Led Zeppelin's extravaganza the packaging is OK.
