Barry Adamson – Back To The Cat

A bit of Jazz, a hint of blues, a touch of funk layered over a bed of lounge lizard and you get Barry Adamson. Smooth, atmospheric and hailing from Moss Side, not a combination you really expect; A veteran having worked with Nick Cave, Pete Shelley and contributing to various movie soundtracks, this is an eclectic album for a late night session.
The tracks flow and merge as you begin to sway along to the strains of brass and the upstroke of the guitar. “The Beaten Side of Town” becomes “Straight Till Sunrise” which flows into. Spend A Little Time. Before long you are taking in “Flight” and then it's over after the strains of Psycho_Sexual die out.
Suitably off the wall. Greatly different. Nice.
8/10
