Goldhawks – Running Away

There’s something of Mansun on this confident and rather epic debut single. Presently anything with a guitar ‘sound’ that’s described as indie is getting sidelined, so this is the sound of the rebellion fighting back against the sound of the 80’s that’s currently dominating the charts (although if you want to make an 80’s link to justify having them on the radio – try Echo & the Bunnymen for size!) Purely on the basis of the opening bars of this single, Goldhawks should have been mentioned in the lists of bands to watch in 2010.
