Detroit Social Club – Kiss The Sun EP

This sounds like a cross between Oasis and Kasabian but with less production values, it’s over blown and pompous and quite clearly up its own arse. In fact ‘We Kiss The Sun’ should be renamed ‘We Kiss The Gallaghers.’ The second of the four tracks ‘Black & White’ is a bluesy stripped back number that’s the pick of the EP, but that’s not difficult considering ‘Never Too Late To Try’ is about as memorable as Wayne Bridge not shaking the hand of John Terry. (Did he or didn’t he? And who other than the press actually cares?) Finally it’s the overblown bollocks of ‘Thousand Kings’ that wraps things up. It’s inevitable that a band will want to fill the Oasis void, but surly it should be done with spirit and originality; nobody wants a pointless carbon copy!
