The Jim Jones Revue - Here To Save Your Soul: Singles volume one

The Jim Jones Revue’s latest album is a pounding, unrelenting, lo-fi, retro sounding rock ‘n’ roll album. Thankfully it sounds uniquely different to most other bands that are out there trying to get noticed, so credit is due to The Jim Jones Revue for not just following the current trend.
From the opening track ‘Rock N Roll Psychosis’ you are instantly pulled into a world of yesteryear, at times sounding almost like Little Richard and artistes of that era, in fact there is even a cover version of Little Richards ‘Good Golly Miss Molly’ with way too much guitar distortion.
The Jim Jones Revue openly admit that they like to create the sound of a deep, screaming black vocal like Little Richard in interviews, and to their credit they have certainly managed it.
Luckily I like this sound and so enjoyed listening to this album, the only downside is that the production values need to be questioned as at times it felt like the sound engineer just tried to record it at such a high volume which made some of the guitar solos create that horrible screeching noise which makes you want to cover your ears.
8 out of 10
Luke Seagrave.
