Everything Burns - Home

Everything Burns are adrift in the post hardcore screamo world. The opener scars has it fair share of harmonics, chugging guitars, and surprisingly emo sung vocals and lyrics which carries on through Home. I'd Die brings heavier guitars with some brief growls before the emo returns. There are some good guitar riffs backed with galloping bass and drums, but it isn't anything earth shaking. There is nothing that grabs you by the scruff of the neck and shouts down your ear to listen, to take note. I think the most surprising thing about this album is the amount of vocals that are sung rather than screamed or growled. It certainly makes a change from the norm. I think it works to a certain extent, but perhaps makes everything sound too emo, too nice, too clean.

6/10
