TIMO MAAS – To Get Down (single) Posted by claire on Tuesday, February 12, 2002 (Perfecto) Released: OUT NOW German DJ Timo Maas is probably more renowned in this country for his remix work with Madonna, Placebo and Fatboy Slim, but his new single ‘To Get Down’ should be the one that finally gets him noticed for his own work. ‘To Get Down’ is quite possibly the missing link between those Eurobeat trance anthems courtesy of people like ATB and the Skint Records dominated breakbeat era that preceded it. Heavily reliant on an insistent bassline which is not too dissimilar to Primal Scream’s ‘Kowalski’, ‘Too Get Down’ is lyrically simplistic yet unforgettable and should go down a storm in both the “serious” dance clubs and the indie discos. Fatboy Slim returns the compliment for Timo’s mix of ‘Star 69’ with his ‘Rock Thing’ remix of the title track, stamping his authority on the track in a way not seen since his reworking of the Beastie Boys’ ‘Body Movin’’. ‘To Get Down’ is a tantalising appetiser for his debut album, which follows suit next month.
