Bona fide music legends and a multi award-winning band have been announced for Splendour today, Nottingham’s fantastic all-day summer music festival held at Wollaton Park on Saturday 22 July.

Busted, one of the biggest homegrown pop acts of the 21st century, will generate plenty of excitement joining Kaiser Chiefs as the next act confirmed for the Main Stage. Beloved by a whole generation of fans who grew up with them in the noughties, the double Brit Award winning band are sure to go down a storm playing a mix of their unforgettable hits and songs from their third studio album ‘Night Driver’. After a sell-out show at Rock City in February, expect to be taken to the “Year 3000” with a sing-along set from the band with an incredible five million record sales, platinum albums and hit singles, including “Crashed The Wedding”, “What I Go to School For”, “You Said No”, “Who's David” and “Thunderbirds”.

Tony Hadley, frontman of 80s phenomenon Spandau Ballet, will also make his mark on the Main Stage. Formed in 1978, Spandau Ballet had multiple chart topping singles and albums all over the world, including international number one “True”. Over the years, Hadley has earned the accolade of being one of pop music’s greatest vocalists. Expect an epic set from a back catalogue of memorable Spandau Ballet hits, including their well-known song “Gold”.

Headlining the Confetti Stage, powered by Nottingham Trent University, will be Grammy Award winning singer Billy Ocean. The “Caribbean Queen” star has sold more than 30 million records and collected a pile of gold and platinum records throughout his hugely successful career. With a string of hits, including “Love Really Hurts Without You”, “Suddenly” and “When The Going Gets Tough The Tough Get Going”, along with last year’s album ‘Here You Are: The Best Of Billy Ocean’ soaring to number four, Ocean will be bringing plenty of crowd pleasers to his headlining set.

Next up, rock band Black Grape, formed by Shaun Ryder and Paul 'Kermit' Leveridge after the demise of Happy Mondays, will be bringing their Britpop canon to Splendour. Following a UK tour to mark the 21st anniversary of chart topping debut album ‘It's Great When You're Straight… Yeah’, and a fantastic show at Rock City in December, expect a lively set of catchy pop hooks including “In the Name of the Father” and “Reverend Black Grape”.

International treasures, British Sea Power have some remarkable admirers - the late, great David Bowie and Lou Reed were among them as well as ardent fan Daniel Radcliffe! They’ve played on ships at sea, deep inside Cornish slate mines and atop the Great Wall of China, and now, with brand new album ‘Let The Dancers Inherit The Party’ due out at the end of March, the lustrous, panoramic art-rock stalwarts are a fantastic addition to the Confetti Stage line up.

Back over on the Main Stage is British singer-songwriter Gabrielle Aplin. Her unforgettable cover of Frankie Goes to Hollywood's “The Power of Love” for the John Lewis Christmas TV campaign reached number one in the UK chart. In the whirlwind that followed, Aplin’s debut album ‘English Rain’ charted at number two and has since been certified gold in the UK, selling over 100,000 copies.

Singer-songwriter Georgie has built a strong reputation over the years in the Nottingham music scene, making her first forays at the age of 14. Two years on from her last Splendour

appearance, and after supporting Jake Bugg on a triumphant UK tour, the local star is signed to Columbia Records and working on her debut album.

The festival will once again be championing local talent by offering the opening slot of the Main Stage to the unsigned act which tops the hotly contested Future Sound of Nottingham competition.

Headlining the Acoustic Rooms Stage will be musical duo and The Voice UK contestants, Into The Ark, who have been hotly tipped by coach Tom Jones. Further acts across the park will be announced shortly.

Over on the Funhouse Comedy Stage, acts will include: Jim Smallman, Wes Zaharuk, Jollyboat, Steve Royle, Scott Bennett and Barry Dodds.

George Akins, owner, DHP Family, said: “Feedback on the Kaiser Chiefs announcement was epic, with sales well ahead of this time last year. Once again we’re confident this line up, with a mix of music legends and mega bands, will satisfy the 20,000 strong crowd at the award-winning Splendour Festival. Get your tickets quick as we're expecting another sell out year!”

Organisers DHP Family in association with Nottingham City Council are keen to replicate the success of last year’s biggest ever Splendour - overall winner of ‘Best Festival’ (15,000-39,000) at the 2016 Live Music Business Awards, and recognised as Nottingham’s favourite family festival - which saw a sold-out 21,000 strong crowd watching headliners Jess Glynne, The Human League and UB40.

Nottingham Trent University and Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies are also confirmed as festival partners and will be providing invaluable technical, recording and programming support. With lots happening all over the park aside from the three music

stages, including comedy in the courtyard, a kids' area and entertainers out and about in the crowd, the festival is a fantastic day out for all the family.

Councillor Dave Trimble, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture, said: “Kaiser Chiefs are already proving a big draw for Splendour 2017 but I’m sure this exciting and varied line-up will attract even more people. But it will be more than just a concert, as Nottingham City Council is committed to providing a great day out for all the family, with free entry for children under 11. Don’t forget, everyone who lives in the City of Nottingham is entitled to a discounted ticket.”

Children under 11 will once again be admitted free and discounts are also in place for Nottingham residents. A standard ticket is £46, coming down to £36 when the Nottingham City resident discount is applied. Tickets for young people aged 11-17 living in Nottingham are £20.

VIP packages are also available starting from £80. Ticket holders will enjoy a whole host of benefits including access to the VIP garden; a big screen with picnic and seating area; exclusive entertainment; gourmet food and a quality choice of drinks; luxury toilets plus access to the Dinosaurs of China exhibition at Wollaton Hall.

Tickets can be purchased from or in person from the Nottingham Tourism Centre.

HIM - Here for their farewell tour!

Following a long radio silence, Finnish rock giants HIM have announced a farewell tour, closing the final chapter on their 26 year career.

"After quarter of a century of Love and Metal intertwined we sincerely feel HIM has run its unnatural course and adieus must be said in order to make way for sights, scents and sounds yet unexplored. We completed the pattern, solved the puzzle and turned the key. Thank you." Says frontman Ville ValoFormed in 1991 by vocalist Ville Valo, guitarist Mikko “Linde”Lindström and bassist Mikko "Migé" Paananen, HIM truly stand out as one of the rock world’s most unique acts. Beautifully blending metal, goth and hard rock with deep, thoughtful and moving lyrics, HIM offered the world a new take on the metal genre, which became known as Love Metal (also the title of their fourth album). Over the course of eight studio albums, HIM captured the hearts and minds of fans across the globe, drawn by their irresistible and inimitable style. Under the banner of their Heartagram logo –a potent symbol encapsulating the juxtaposition of the light and dark, the fierce and forlorn, and the evil and love found in their music - HIM filled venues and crashed charts the world over, collecting numerous awards, gracing countless magazine covers and becoming the first Finnish act to achieve Gold status in the USA. Now, four years after the release of their last studio album ‘Tears On Tape’, HIM are saying farewell, taking in 14 countries across 35 shows for their final goodbye.

"At the end of 2017 we will be released into the wild.”Says bassist Mige. “Before this event of great transformation we would love to offer you one last chance to experience our live performances in His Majesty's service. It shall not be a weepfest but a celebration oflove metal in all its lovecraftian glory! See you there!"

Slaves (USA) postponed!

Please note that our Slaves (USA) show has been postponed:

POSTPONED: Due to some unforeseen circumstances, SLAVES have been forced to postpone the upcoming shows in the United Kingdom & mainland Europe. As many of you may know by now, Jonny had been experiencing severe back pain for a while and recently had to undergo three major back surgeries. We're happy to say that Jonny is in great spirits and recovering well but will have to remain hospitalized for the present time to properly heal and rehabilitate from these surgeries. We are already working on the reschedule for later in the year with our UK/European team and support is sorting out to be a great line-up. All tickets will remain valid and will be honoured at the rescheduled shows. A special thank you to XRAY Touring, and all the promoters in UK & mainland Europe for their understanding. Thank you for your continuous love & support.

We're excited to again be working with Nottingham's flagship project Nusic - pushing 100% homegrown talent, with new, all-Notts music.

To be in with a shot at playing on our stage, and then at Splendour Festival, take a listen to the podcast (which also has a glorious range of Notts music for your listening pleasure!)

It's comedy, it’s make do, it's ignorant and above all, it's shit" Watch Jason’s album message

DOT TO DOT 2017!

Manchester: Friday 26th May 2017

Bristol: Saturday 27th May 2017

Nottingham: Sunday 28th May 2017

Winner of Best Festival at the Live UK Awards 2016

“Dot To Dot is proof that you don’t need to pitch a tent in a muddy field to get that festival feeling” The Independent

“With a stunning bill and venues within yards of one another we’ll leave you to join the dots” Clash

“Each place opens up all of their best venues to embrace these soon-to-be-huge acts and we all get to boast that we saw them up close before they were huge. The only real worries are the inevitable agonising clashes and where to begin.” Virtual Festivals

The UK’s premier festival for unearthing the best new talent, Dot To Dot Festival, returns to Manchester, Bristol and Nottingham from the 26th-28th May for its 12th edition. After smashing record attendance, and marking a sell-out Manchester event in 2016, more of the same is expected for 2017, with a huge lineup of established performers and emerging artists from around the world.

With many exciting announcements to follow, Dot To Dot, are ecstatic to announce the first wave of artists to play this year’s festival:

Euphoric guitar rock supremoes SUNDARA KARMA will return to the Dot To Dot stage, this time as festival headliners! Their meteoric rise and epic debut album came as no surprise to anybody who have seen these guys at Dot To Dot before. With stage presence in abundance, and a plethora of huge songs such as ‘Flame’, ‘Loveblood’ and ‘She Said’, Sundara Karma embody everything Dot To Dot stands for and we can’t wait to see them own the headline slot.

Joining them will be more Dot To Dot legends, in the form of Nottingham’s own AMBER RUN. Their scintillating second album just dropped after a year in the studio, and we couldn’t be happier for their return. Californian rockers THE GROWLERS also join the party, after their latest album ‘City Club’, produced by The Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas, took the UK by storm when it was released last year.

After a memorable performance in 2015, high octane Scottish duo HONEYBLOOD, have also been confirmed to return. With their blend of Americana influenced, emo-tinged indie rock PINEGROVE are crossing the Atlantic for this year’s Dot To Dot. LOUIS BERRY will be stamping his own brand of Merseyside rock ‘n’ roll on this year’s festival. We’ll also be treated to sets by much-hyped LA 3-piece CHERRY GLAZERR, Irish chart-toppers PICTURE THIS and BBC Sound Of 2017 shortlisted vocalist TOM GRENNAN.

Dot To Dot Organiser Anton Lockwood, of DHP Family, said: “After our record breaking festival in 2016 we are so excited to bring the festival back to Manchester, Bristol and Nottingham this year! We are always proud to see so many previous Dot To Dot artists become huge successes, with Sundara Karma working their way up the ranks to headline this year’s event. We pride ourselves on finding & nurturing new artists, we can’t wait to see the stars of the future playing in small venues this year before their big breaks. This first announcement is only the tip of the iceberg, and there are loads more phenomenal performers still to be announced across multiple venues very soon!”

Previous Dot to Dot line-ups have seen performances from The xx, Ed Sheeran, Mumford and Sons, The 1975, Frank Turner, Caribou, Wolf Alice, Jake Bugg, SBTKRT, Florence + The Machine, Peace, Courtney Barnett and many, many more. With the emphasis on showcasing the hottest new talent on the planet, there will be lots more exciting additions to be announced for Dot To Dot’s 2017 line-up. The Fallen State Announce Their New EP ‘The View from Ruin’ and Premiere Video Single ‘Nova’

The Fallen State announce their new EP ‘The View from Ruin’ will be released ‪24th February 2017‬ Following on from their four critically-acclaimed, well-played and received previous EPs (I, II, III, and ‘Crown Your Shadows)’, ‘The View from Ruin’ is eagerly awaited by fans, will be an excellent addition to the band’s repertoire, and is accompanied by a striking, recently-shot video for the single track, ‘Nova’ released ‪13thFebruary 2017‬.‬‬

The Fallen State combines the exuberant, soulful voice of singer Ben Stenning, the artful expressive phrasing of lead six-stringer Jon Price, and Dan Oke’s inspired harmonic wall of warm, contemporary rock guitars. Into this fusion of talent, the band adds grooving, ruthless rhythms, courtesy of bassist Greg Butler and drummer Rich Walker, with his punchy snare and cymbals. It’s a kickass recipe for rock success which creates infectious, energetic, body-rocking songs that leave crowds hungry for more.

"The View From Ruin is without a doubt the product of maturity in our song writing. It's the collaboration of every band member having an influence and highlights the drive and togetherness within our band. As a whole it represents everything we have experience so far, and we're beyond excited to show it to the world." says Ben Stenning. Guitarist Jon Price adds “"Nova is probably the most heartfelt song we have written to date. Members of the band have experienced loss in a deep way over the past few years. We hope the story of Nova will resonate with the fans and they will identify with the overall positive aspect of the song, as well as the sad elements seen in the video”

Check out the new video single Nova -

It’s a testimony to the band’s killer combo of passion and craft that The Fallen State has developed an impressive reputation, with their stylish take on the musical legacies of both sides of the Atlantic. They’ve already released four EPs, and with ‘The View from Ruin’ will add the fifth. They’ve also achieved video and radio airplay of ‘Sinner’ on Scuzz, the BBC, Teamrock, and Kerrang. Passionate performers, they live for the live show and sell out shows with their modern, incisive, inspiring performances. The band has also toured with Black Stone Cherry, 3 Doors Down and US Grammy winners Halestorm; not to mention artists such as Trapt and fellow UK rockers The Treatment, Young Guns, and Heavens Basement.

The Fallen State is rising, with the ‘The View from Ruin’ tracks (including ‘Nova’) being awesome additions to their playlist and their accompanying ‘The View from Ruin’ tour delivering hi-octane, groove-ridden, rock n’ roll to a venue near you and have recently announced they will be playing at Wildfire Fest, Rambin’ Man Fair and Amplified Festival.

The mighty ANTHRAX kick off their tour tonight, and will be HERE on Monday!!

They'll be playing their classic 1987 album 'Among The Living' in full during the first half of their set to mark its 30th anniversary. Now they’re giving you the chance to choose the material for the second half of the shows!!l

Check out the ‘by request’ section on their website with a list of 44 tracks. Choose your 10 favourites, and the songs that receive the most votes will be part of the live set.

Anthrax are going to be keeping an eye on the votes, so sets on each night of the tour could change!! The list includes the tracks Armed And Dangerous, Madhouse, Gung-Ho, Schism, Antisocial, Belly Of The Beast and Evil Twin.

Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian recently told Metal Hammer that the current political climate would result in “a lot of great heavy music” over the next four years. He continued: “Political unrest is great for art. The Big Four came out of the Reagan era in the States. The New Wave Of British Heavy Metal came out of the Thatcher era, if I’m not mistaken. So with Trump and the political climate in the world right now, it should definitely be great for heavy music. “There are tons of creative bands and the scene is strong and healthy. Will there ever be another Iron Maiden or Metallica? Maybe not in our lifetimes – but I remember people having the same conversation 10 years ago, and then over those 10 years a bunch of cool new bands have come out. I think we’ll all be fine.”
