Charity festival Beat The Streets has today announced the second wave of artists for its 2019 edition. Amongst the new additions is soulful songstress Harleighblu, post-hardcore five-piece Palm Reader, frenetic rockers Haggard Cat, hip-hop MC and producer Juga-Naut and BBC Introducing favourites Gazelle.
The festival has also announced that following the recent replacement of Rock City’s floor, the venue has donated 10 pieces of the old floor as a commemorative gift. Anyone who buys a ticket to Beat The Streets ahead of 21st January will be entered into a prize draw for the coveted floor, with over 9k signs ups to purchase a piece of this venue’s history, this will be an excellent coup.
In addition to this, the festival is offering a host of other prizes with its tombola – including: tickets to Splendour Festival, Dot To Dot Festival and a host of other gigs; meal vouchers for Pizza Express and Barburrito; an ice-skating day out at the National Ice Centre; signed band merchandise, vouchers for Rough Trade and much more. Tickets for the tombola can be purchased on the day from Black Cherry Lounge and all proceeds will be donated to Framework.
With now under 2 weeks to go, excitement is building for the event which takes place on Sunday 27 January 2019.

Hailed as the “New Queen of Hip Hop Soul”, Nottingham native Harleighblu has been involved in music from a very young age, her drive and passion for creative exploration propelling her through the local scene to develop into one of the UK’s most promising young artists. She has completed several tours of Europe and the UK, including live appearances at major festivals such as Glastonbury, Bestival, The Great Escape and Green Man Festival, as well as support slots for the likes of Rag’n’Bone Man and Amp Fiddler.
Palm Reader have spent the last seven years honing their craft everywhere from the dingiest toilet venues in Britain to the biggest festival stages in Europe. The band received rave reviews for 2018’s emotionally-charged yet uncompromisingly heavy record ‘Braille”, making album of the year lists across several rock and metal blogs.
Haggard Cat stormed onto the scene with enormous hooks, violently voracious beats and thoughtful lyrical themes. Signed to Nottingham metal label Earache Records, their recent release has seen them acclaimed by the likes of Kerrang!, Planet Rock and Mojo Magazine. The band have built up a reputation for their ferocious live shows, which are chaotic, immersive and devastatingly fun.
Juga-Naut is a multi-talented artist, emcee and producer with an international following. Having gained major recognition with a plethora of self-released projects, he has gone on to perform on legendary UK stages opening for Hip-Hop royalty including Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, KRS-ONE, Ghostface Killah and many more.

First wave of acts announced for Beat The Streets Festival 2019
Charity festival Beat The Streets has today announced the first wave of artists for its 2019 edition. Amongst the 40+ acts confirmed so far is popular metal band Evil Scarecrow, as well as a former Forest and England footballer Stuart Pearce in conversation with RamAlbumClub.
Taking place on Sunday 27 January 2019, the festival spans 10+ stages in venues across the city centre. All proceeds raised from ticket sales, merchandise, and bar sales in DHP venues will be donated to Framework.
Nottingham metallers Evil Scarecrow have been captivating audiences for many years. From playing in local pubs, to holding their own on Bloodstock Festival’s main stage, the band are renowned for their epic live shows. This year saw the release of their highly anticipated 4th album, ‘Chapter IV: Antartarctica’, which they’ll be touring throughout the UK in January 2019.
Stuart Pearce is a name beloved by many a football fan. The former Forest captain is best known for his 12 years with the club and winning the League Cup twice. He also had stints with Coventry City, Newcastle United, West Ham United and Manchester City, while garnering 78 caps for England and helping the international side reach the semi-finals of both the 1990 World Cup and Euro 1996. Pearce later went on to a career in management, looking after England’s Under 21 team and the GB football team in the London 2012 Olympics. A long-term punk fan whose favourite band is The Stranglers, Stuart will be in conversation with RamAlbumClub’s Martin Fitzgerald.
Elsewhere on the line-up is a host of up and coming local artists, showcasing the breadth of talent within the city. Rock-pop duo Brotherhood, former Future Sound of Nottingham winners, played their biggest headline show to date earlier this year with a sell-out gig at Rescue Rooms. Alternative folk-artist Keto, a BBC 6music favourite, has played Green Man Festival and Glastonbury Festival, toured with the likes of Julia Jacklin and Low and was selected for PRS For Music’s ‘Women Make Music’ fund.
Don’t Forget Rupert have gone from strength to strength this year, playing sold-out shows in Rescue Rooms and Rough Trade, releasing their EP ‘Full Circle’ and performing sets at Splendour Festival and Tramlines.

Following the hugely successful inaugural event, which raised £100k for homeless charity Framework and saw a headline set from Sleaford Mods, Beat The Streets have announced that the festival will return for a second year.
Taking place on Sunday 27 January 2019, the festival will again host more than 80 national and local acts playing across 10+ stages in venues across the city centre. All proceeds raised from ticket sales, merchandise and bar sales in DHP venues will be donated to local homeless charities, including Framework.
The money raised at the 2018 event enabled Framework to hire two new members of staff, one working within the outreach team and another in the role of social worker, providing front-line help to rough sleepers and providing specialist support. The funds also enabled the provision of more supported accommodation; more temporary beds at local B&Bs; more reconnection services; and more support for people who spend their days on the streets.
Highlights from Beat The Streets 2018 included sets from Sleaford Mods, Ferocious Dog, Nina Smith, Lone, and Lawnmower Deth, as well as a charity raffle with prizes from Splendour Festival, London Grammar, and Billy Bragg.
DHP’s George Akins said: “We’re extremely excited to build on the success of our first event. Although the money raised at our first Beat The Streets made a significant difference, it’s evident that there is so much more to be done to address the homelessness problem in the city. We’re glad we can play a part in raising funds to help make a difference where it is so desperately needed.”
Framework Operations Director Michael Leng said, “The inaugural Beat The Streets festival was an unparalleled fundraising success – by far the biggest event we have ever had the privilege of being involved in. Its legacy was two-fold. The £100,000 it raised helped us to support dozens of homeless people off the streets and is still being used to this day. The enormous boost it gave to our profile, meanwhile, allowed us to engage with audiences old and new and get our message out to more people than ever before. We are thrilled by the prospect of this happening again and can’t wait for the music to start.”
