The Black Dahlia Murder are an american melodic metal band that hail from Waterford, Michigan. They formed in 2001. The name derives from the unsolved murder of Elizabeth Short.
They released their first demo and a four track EP on their own label ‘Lovelost Records’ before signing for ‘Metal Blade records’ in 2003 and released their first studio album ‘Unhallowed’.
They have now released 6 studio albums Unhallowed (2003), Miasma (2005), Nocturnal (2007), Deflorate (2009) and their most recent Ritual (2011) peaked at 31 on the US Billboard chart.
