Natalie Mering is known for her psychedelic folk and soft rock sound as a singer and songwriter. Initially she started out under the name ‘Weyes Bluhd’ to which she self-released 3 albums. But after signing to independent label ‘Mexican Summer’ she decided to change her name to the well-known current stage name; taking inspiration from the 1950’s novel.
Blood will be joining us in November to tour her hauntingly beautiful new album ‘And In The Darkness, Hearts Aglow’ which is her fifth record. She has stated that this album is the second in a trilogy, following on from the 2019 album ‘Titanic Rising’, the narrative of a catastrophe which we’re now in the centre of. The theme of the latest album dives into the dystopian elements of the modern world and the loneliness that follows as a result. She says “I think the difference between my generation and maybe my parents’ generation—I don’t think they felt as dystopian as we do,”.
“Whether or not things have really changed all that much is up for debate, but I think it feels like it really has. It feels like things are really changing.”
